Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how SS File Manager (“the app”, “we”), published by Mr SS Applications, handles information. We designed the app to be private by default: your files stay on your device.

1. Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect, upload, sell or share your personal files, photos, videos or documents.
• We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
• We do not track your identity or location.

2. On-device processing

All browsing, searching, sorting, cleaning and file operations happen entirely on your device — across internal storage, SD cards and connected USB/OTG drives. File contents are never transmitted to us or any third party.

3. Local Wi-Fi (FTP) sharing

The app includes an optional FTP sharing feature. When — and only when — you turn it on, the app starts a local FTP server on your device so that other devices on the same Wi-Fi network (for example your own PC) can browse, download and upload files. Important points:

• Sharing is off by default and runs only while you enable it. Turning it off, or closing the app’s service notification, stops the server immediately.
• Data is transferred directly between your devices over your local network. Nothing is routed through, stored on, or seen by our servers — we operate no servers.
• While sharing is active, an ongoing notification reminds you the server is running.
• Anyone on the same network who knows the address can access the shared files, so only enable sharing on networks you trust and turn it off when finished.

4. Permissions we request

• Storage / Media access (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) — used only to display and manage the files you choose to work with, including SD card and USB/OTG storage.
• Install unknown apps (REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES) — used only when you explicitly open an APK file.
• Internet, Network & Wi-Fi state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE) — used only to run the optional local FTP sharing you start and to show the correct connection address; no file data is sent to our servers.
• Foreground service & notifications (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, POST_NOTIFICATIONS, WAKE_LOCK) — used only to keep the FTP server running reliably while sharing is on and to show its status notification.
• Biometric — used locally to protect the private/hidden files area, if you enable it.

5. Analytics & advertising

This version of the app does not include third-party advertising SDKs and does not profile you. If analytics are added in the future, this policy will be updated and only anonymous, aggregate usage data would be collected.

6. Children’s privacy

The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data security

Because your files never leave your device except during a local Wi-Fi transfer that you explicitly start, you remain in full control. Deleting the app removes its settings from your device.

8. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

You choose which files to delete, move, copy, rename, compress, extract, hide or modify, and these actions are performed at your own risk — in some cases they cannot be undone.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mr SS Applications is not responsible or liable for any loss, damage, corruption, deletion, modification, overwriting or unintended change of any files, folders or data resulting from the use of this app — whether caused by deleting, updating, adding, moving, copying, renaming, compressing, extracting, cleaning, transferring (including over FTP/Wi-Fi) or any other operation. The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Always keep your own backups of important data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
